Now we are of course still in the midst of lockdown, with the proposed easing of restrictions falling on the 9th of July. Fingers crossed we keep up the good work and make it out of this so we can get back to doing what we love, one of those things of course being attending live music. Gig guide hosts Jarred and Oscar are of course both avid punters when it comes to attending live music, so this period has been quite tough, but the pair have bouncing album recommendations back and forth between one another during the lockdown period, you can find a lot of those tunes on the 2SER lockdown playlist on Spotify.
Here are a couple of shows you can head to on the first night of eased restrictions.
The Melodrones 10/07/21 – The Vic On The Park (free)
The Melodrones are playing at the vic on the park in Marrickville, Jarred and Oscar caught one of the last shows before lockdown there, seeing the lovely psych lords the Murlocs with country and inner western queen Caitlin Harnnet and the Pony Boys, an action packed day of rock n roll indeed. The Melodrones will lead a night of heartbreaking tunes, fuzzy guitars and beautiful melodies and it’s free so get your fix of live music, everyone needs it after two weeks in lockdown.
The Doe and scapegoat 10/07/21 – The Chippo Hotel
You might be looking for a double serving live music on Saturday night and if that’s the case head on down to the Chippo hotel to catch the Doe and the Scapegoat launch their new single I Can’t Quit, the band reach into the depths of the human psyche to produce a blistering and unique style of rock, they’ll be playing with sinister Sydney reggae rockers Cosy Bosm.
As the situation is ever changing it’s vital to keep an eye out for government messaging. Here’s hoping that we are able to have the restrictions eased on the current proposed date.
